Perseverance
Hello -- it's been a while, hasn't it?
Since I set up this page and started on the path toward realizing my dream of becoming a documentary filmmaker, I've had some victories, as well as some setbacks. But I am not giving up on making this project a reality. I feel that I"m now in a place where I can ramp up production, promotion and fundraising. The goal is to have the full-length feature documentary finished by the end of the year and find distribution in 2020.
So a little bit about me...
I am a descendant of the Acadians on my mother's side. She is the granddaughter of Jean Baptiste Vautour and Clara Leblanc Vautour of Saint Louis de Kent, NB.
I'm interested in your suggestions on a title for my film. The working title is The Acadian Project.
The film will tell the story of the Acadian people -- from the time they first settled in Acadia and the struggles they endured to finally establishing thriving colonies, through Le Grand Derangement (connecting it to the current political climate around immigrants and refugees,) how they fared in exile, how some of them returned to Acadie and how the the deportations have effected the Acadian people down through the generations.
It's a historical documentary, but also a personal journey to discover my heritage... a proud heritage of a people that, despite all that they suffered, have rebuilt their lives and their community, and still thrive today. I'm proud to be Acadian and I am proud to tell this story.
I have a facebook page -- Beltane Films LLC -- not much on it yet, but I hope to be posting updates as I move through production of the film.
I also have a website -- beltanefilms.com -- also not much on it yet, but I'm going to be ramping up with applying for grants and doing fundraising, so it will become more robust very soon.
I'm hoping to get a short trailer posted very soon. Stay tuned...
If you've read this far, thank you. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your support.
